The changing winter weather we've seen recently – freezing, warming up, and then refreezing – can take a toll on pipes, boilers, and heating systems, whether at home, in schools, or even at the places where we treat your water.

These conditions make it more likely for bursts and leaks to happen and we're currently dealing with lots of reports in pipes big and small, across roads, fields, and homes right across our areas. 

We're seeing a rise in demand due to increased heating, baths, showers, and the impact of leaks.

While we're working around the clock to find and fix these bursts, and treat and supply water without interruption, a little help from you can make a big difference.

Here's how you can help:

Report leaks online

Help us fix leaks faster by reporting them online or through our social media DMs and WhatsApp, so we can keep phone lines open for emergencies.

Protect your pipes

Cold weather can cause pipes to freeze and burst. Use tap covers and pipe lagging to keep your pipes safe.

Be prepared for emergencies

Know where your stopcock is and have a plumber's details handy - you are responsible for any leaks on your property, but contact us if the issue is on our side. You can find an approved plumber at watersafe.org.uk.

Additional support

You might not need our support right now, but we are always here if you do. Our FREE Priority Services can help if you need a bit of extra support due to age, disability, mobility, illness, mental health, communication needs or have children under five.

You can even sign up on behalf of someone else, so please think of your neighbours, friends, and family who may need a bit of extra support.
